A free online document scanner
Snap a receipt, a contract, or a whiteboard at any angle and Gobbert finds the page, straightens it, and kills the shadow, the part other free scanners leave behind. Scan a whole stack at once and save it as one multi-page PDF. No app, no account, no watermark.

Why a small set of free online tools beats a directory of 200
Most sites ranking for free online tools compete on the number in their headline. That number is the wrong thing to shop for, and here is the specific reason.
A tool directory can add a hue shifter, a QR generator and a word counter in an afternoon, because each one is thirty lines of JavaScript. The jobs people actually arrive with are the expensive ones: reading text off a scanned page, cutting a person out of a photo, rebuilding a Word file’s layout as a PDF. Those need a model and a graphics card, so a browser-only site cannot ship them at all.
We checked the sites currently ranking for this search. One of the biggest lists 162 tools, and its entire image section is a hue shifter, an image splitter, a colour picker and an image downloader. No background remover, no OCR, no PDF to Word. Another, with 247 tools, does have a background remover, but its own description is colour picking and flood fill with edge-aware controls, which is a manual brush, not a model deciding where the person ends.
Gobbert has 34 working tools instead of 200. The difference is that removing a background here runs a real segmentation model on our own graphics card, and a scanned PDF gets a genuine OCR pass before it becomes a Word file. Those two jobs are the ones people give up on and go pay for. They are free here, with no page cap and no resolution downgrade on the free result.
No daily use counter
One popular tools site allows five uses per day on its free plan, personal use only, with ads and a wait before your download unlocks. Gobbert has no daily counter, no queue penalty and no personal-use clause. Run the same tool forty times tonight if that is what the job needs.
No watermark on the result
The usual trick on a free tier is to hand back a watermarked or downscaled file and sell you the clean one. Your file comes out of Gobbert at full resolution with nothing stamped on it. There is no paid version of these tools to upgrade to, so there is nothing to hold back.
Most of it never uploads
Resizing, converting, merging PDFs, compressing a GIF and generating favicons all run inside your browser tab, so those files never leave your device. The few jobs that need the graphics card are processed on our own machine and deleted afterwards. We do not keep them, sell them or train on them.
How it works
How to use the tools: three bites and you are done
1 · Feed him
Pick a tool and drag your file onto it, or tap to browse. Images, PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, GIFs. There is no account step and nothing to install first.
2 · He gobbles
Light jobs finish inside your browser tab. The heavy ones go to our own graphics card, so there is no slow shared cloud queue and no paying to skip it.
3 · Grab it back
Download the result straight away, at full quality with no watermark. Then do it again as many times as you like. There is no counter running.
Are these free online tools actually free?
Yes, and there is no paid tier to upgrade to. Most free file tools cap you at a few files a day, stamp a watermark on the result, or ask for an account first. Gobbert does none of that, because the heavy work runs on a graphics card that is already ours and already on. Our cost to gobble one more file is close to nothing, so we let you use it. In return we hope you bookmark Gobbert and tell a friend who is fighting with a giant photo.
The honest versionCommon questions
Questions people ask before uploading a file
Do I need an account to use any of it?
No. There is no signup, no email step and no login wall anywhere on Gobbert. You land on a tool, drop a file, and download the result. We do not have accounts at all, so there is nothing to create and nothing to remember.
Is there a file size limit or a daily cap?
There is no daily cap and no counter on how many files you run. The in-browser tools are bounded only by what your own device can hold in memory, which for images, PDFs and GIFs is generous. The tools that use our graphics card have a practical size ceiling for the sake of the queue, but no per-day quota sitting behind it.
Do my files get uploaded anywhere?
Mostly no. Resizing and converting images, merging and splitting PDFs, compressing GIFs, converting spreadsheets and generating favicons all run entirely inside your browser tab, so those files never leave your device. Background removal, OCR and document conversion need real compute, so they go to our own machine, get processed and are deleted. They are never kept, sold or used to train anything.
Will the result have a watermark or be downscaled?
Neither. Your file comes back at full resolution with nothing stamped on it. The common pattern elsewhere is a free tier that hands you a small watermarked preview and charges for the clean file. There is no paid Gobbert tier, so there is no reason for us to degrade the free result.
Which free online tools can Gobbert do that browser-only sites cannot?
Three in particular. Background removal, which runs a real segmentation model instead of a flood-fill brush, so it handles hair and soft edges. OCR on scanned PDFs, so a photographed or faxed document becomes searchable, editable text in Word. And document conversion that rebuilds the layout rather than dumping plain text. Each of these needs a server-side model, which is exactly why the large browser-only tool directories do not offer them.
Can I use the results for commercial work?
Yes. There is no personal-use-only clause on Gobbert, which is worth checking on any free tools site you use, because restricting the free tier to personal projects is a common condition. Your files are yours, and what you do with the output is your business.
Is there a WordPress version of these tools?
Some of them, yes. The same work is going into a set of free WordPress plugins, starting with bulk WebP conversion for a media library and safe SVG uploads. They are in the build queue rather than released, and you can see what is coming on the WordPress plugins page.
